COLLABORATION FOR A CAUSE
To date, Ys have reported more than 30,000 joint efforts in and more are anticipated in the coming years as we aim to leverage the collective strength of the Movement to deepen our impact and advance our cause.
Along with the Thriving Ys Initiative, YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) has developed new resources to help Y leaders build on their existing collaboration knowledge, gain confidence, and strengthen the collaborative abilities of their YMCAs.
This collaborations hub is a growing repository of trainings and tools that will support your growth as a cause-driven collaborative leader and prepare your Y to be a successful partner. Explore below and then visit regularly to see what’s new.
At the Y, everything we do is in support of our cause to strengthen community. As effective as YMCAs are at fulfilling our cause, we know working with others who share our passion for our communities brings new potential to what we can achieve.
Whether it’s another Y, a school or a multi-partner group—joining forces with other organizations creates opportunities to increase our impact, expand our reach, and accomplish more for our communities than we can on our own.
THREE TYPES OF COLLABORATION
YMCAs participate in three common types of collaborations to increase their capacity and do more for their communities:
Y + Y or Y + Y + Y:
Shared-services agreements, mergers, program partnerships, fundraising joint ventures and other collaborations with one or more Ys
Y + PARTNER:
Collaboration with a single outside agency, such as a school district, hospital or municipality
Y + MULTIPLE PARTNERS:
Addressing critical social issues in your community by contributing to a joint initiative with multiple agencies
